The combined gated-exhaustive vacation system in discrete time
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider a discrete-time gated vacation system. The available buffer space is divided into two subsequent queues separated by a gate and new customers arrive either before or after this gate. Whenever all customers after the gate are served, the server takes a vacation. After each vacation, the gate opens which causes all waiting customers to move to the buffer space after the gate. The model under investigation allows to capture performance of a.o. the exhaustive and the gated queueing systems with multiple or single vacations. Using a probability generating functions approach, we obtain expressions for performance measures such as moments of system contents at various epochs in equilibrium and of customer delay. We conclude with a numerical example.

Optimization of M G 1 Queue with Vacation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper reports on the minimization of the average waiting time of the customers in the M/G/1 queue with vacation. Explicit formula for the unknown service parameter of a particular customer has been obtained by considering the exhaustive service discipline in the case of multi-user with unlimited service system. Moreover, results in case of partially gated and gated service disciplines unde...
متن کاملDiscrete Time Analysis of Multi-Server Queueing System with Multiple Working Vacations and Reneging of Customers
This paper analyzes a discrete-time $Geo/Geo/c$ queueing system with multiple working vacations and reneging in which customers arrive according to a geometric process. As soon as the system gets empty, the servers go to a working vacations all together. The service times during regular busy period, working vacation period and vacation times are assumed to be geometrically distributed. Customer...
متن کاملM/G/1 Queue with Exponential Working Vacation and Gated Service
In this paper we consider the analysis of M/G/1 queue with working vacation. In contrast to the previous literature where the working vacation starts when all customers are served (exhaustive discipline) we consider the case where the vacation period starts when the customers present at the system at beginning of the service period are served (gated discipline). The analysis of the model with g...
متن کاملANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME IMPATIENT CUSTOMER QUEUE WITH BERNOULLI-SCHEDULE VACATION INTERRUPTION
This paper investigates a discrete-time impatient customer queue with Bernoulli-schedule vacation interruption. The vacation times and the service times during regular busy period and during working vacation period are assumed to follow geometric distribution. We obtain the steady-state probabilities at arbitrary and outside observer's observation epochs using recursive technique. Cost analysi...
متن کاملThe Discrete-Time Gated Vacation Queue Revisited
We consider the discrete-time gated multiple-vacation queue. Vacations are modeled as independent random variables with distributions depending on the number of the immediately preceding vacations. Using a probability generating function approach, we focus on various performance measures such as moments of queue contents and customer delay in equilibrium. These measures are functions of a const...
